Romance, Death & Rising Heroes - Arrow Season 2 Finale

With the entire second season of Arrow leading up to the climatic finale tonight, I think it's fair to wonder what is actually going to go down in Starling City.

The Arrow's once ally, turned super powered enemy due to a mysterious empowering serum; The Mirikuru, Slade Wilson (Deathstroke) now has an army of similarly empowered beings ravaging Starling City, along with a twisted (and again super powered) Isabel Rochev. With all of his moves leading to this Starling City has become his chess board with all of our beloved heroes simply playing the role of pawns.

With Amanda Waller (Head of A.R.G.U.S) now involved and threatening to level the city, for the sake of innocent civillians all over the globe, it seems that the Arrow and his allies really can't win this one, can they?

With that in mind I will address the main things we're expecting- or hoping for (Olicity fans) in tonights finale.

Romance

With the return of Sara Lance (The Canary) and Nyssa Al Ghoul this same sex relationship may be explored further when the thought of the end is apparent. Nyssa Al Ghul loved Sara enough to free her from her duties of League of Assasins and we're presuming she has only returned to Starling City for Sara. However I'm sure the love triangle between Oliver Queen, Sara and Nyssa will have it's issues.

With growing romantic-tension building between Oliver and his smart, witty side-kick, Felicity Smoak their feelings for each other seem to building and I think this may reach its climax in tonights finale. There is an ever growing fan base of 'Olicity' fans hoping for this and The CW never fail to give.

Death

With talk of a character dying tonight and Slade's promise that "One more has to die" it is fair to say we're expecting a death. However although Slade promised this to be the person he cared for most, if we've learnt anything from the show is that nothing is as it seems. Meaning that anyone could be lost from the Arrow universe tonight.

The first obvious characters whose death's may be dealt tonight is the women in Oliver Queen's life. Thea Queen, Sara Lance, Laurel Lance and Felicity Smoak. There is enough reason to believe anyone of these ladies may be murdered in Slade's psychotic attempt to avenge his lost love Shado.

Roy Harper may be the character to go... As I don't believe for one second Amanda Waller intends to let anyone who has survived the Mirakuru to walk out alive after this final showdown. Also maybe his death could begin the pathway to another characters breakthrough as a superhero, taking his place, (this is explained later).

The Canary. So far we have only been told that Sara names her vigilante alter ego 'The Canary'. It has not been explicitly stated that she is in fact the The Black Canary, only The Canary. Will it take something much darker to actually name herself a colour that connotes darkness? Or will this label portray her past and journey to this point in the Arrow timeline. Both are more than possible however it is also a plausible theory that if Sara dies tonight, her loving sister Laurel would step up and take her place in the team. After the conversation between the two sisters in the penultimate episode of the season involving Sara's past and how dark it was, maybe the name could mark respect for her sisters death: Taking on the title, The Canary in honour of her sister, and Black in memory of Sara and the torment she had endured...

Rise of The 'Heroes'

Roy Harper, another victim of the Mirikuru is said to reawaken in tonights finale and finally putting on the iconic red mask. This is Roy no longer viewing himself as the teenage wannabe but as 'Speedy' or 'The Red Arrow'. This is a huge deal for comic book fans as Roy Harper was, within the comic book literature, a great sidekick to The Green Arrow but also sustained his own storyline of addiction and blurred morals. Will this be portrayed in the coming seasons? Maybe due to withdrawals from the Mirikuru? Or perhaps a consequence of the cure? Either way I'm excited for this to roll out.

Thea Queen, the sister to Oliver Queen has (according to E! News) been on her own journey this year leading her up to the point of 'apparently' pulling the trigger on her biological father Malcom Merlyn. Thea Queen is a character created by The CW to represent elements of both Speedy (The Green Arrow's sidekick and Mia Dearden- the second Speedy).

It should be noted that rumours are racing through the internet of her actually becoming 'Speedy' as Mia Deardrum once did. This has been reinforced this season with subliminal hints of 'speeding around as a child' and being nick named Speedy- she was even referred to as Speedy by Oliver during this season. Within the comic book universe, this character takes on Roy Harper's legacy as the aforementioned hero. Could Roy's death possibly give Thea the opportunity to do this? I believe this could be the beginning of her voyage into establishing herself as either; an ally to the Arrow, or a formidable foe- we never know how The CW play these things out.

We have been promised to get a cameo of The Flash in action tonight- but don't blink, you might just miss him.

Within the climatic battle tonight, it has been confirmed that many forces will conjoin in order to battle Slade and his army. And Oliver really can't say no to help giving his situation- but will allying with members of The League of Assasins come back to haunt him in the future? We think so! Tonight The Canary, The Arrow, Malcom Merlyn and Nyssa Al Ghul, (along with Diggle and Felicity) will be all that stands in the way of those who wish to destroy the city.

But surely the morality of joining forces with these people has to have an effect on Oliver- maybe we will see this explored within season 3.

And let us not forget the inevitable return of Shado. In the form of apparitions or delusions in Slade's mind she is the driving force behind this whole climatic battle. But we are sure she's dead so she won't physically be present, will she?
