Mortal Kombat X Announced with Trailer

\
Mortal Kombat X (MK X) the tenth consecutive game of the series has been officially confirmed by Ed Boon, Creative Director of Netherealm Studios and Co-Creater of The Mortal Kombat series, whom earlier today released this trailer for the upcoming game.

The above trailer incorporates iconic characters from the Mortal Kombat series. Sworn enemies Sub-zero (left) and Scorpion (right). The game will be available on many gaming platforms such as PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and will be available in 2015 (further release details will be given closer to the time).

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the series: Mortal Kombat is a game series that entails a tournament in which fighters from every realm must enter. The self declared Emperor Shao Khan has had nine victories over Earth Realm and a final tenth for his realm (Outworld) would allow him to invade Earth Realm and destroy it. However once the tournament is over warriors from many realms have personal vendettas and battles to seek out with fighters of Earth Realm. Shao Khan invaded Earth reguardless of the rules of Mortal Kombat. Led by the Thunder God Raiden, Earth's protector, the mortal men and women had to protect their realm from the invasion. However a great number of warriors died during this (including iconic characters whom in the original series had a strong presence), leaving only Raiden and a few 'Kombatants' left. Mortal Kombat X will explore what is in store for the realms and their champions now that the tournament's rules were breached.

With the original stroyline of Mortal Kombat finishing with Mortal Kombat Armageddon, the the most recent MK title released was an attempt to revamp and restart the storyline of Mortal Kombat going back to the beginning of the timeline where Mortal Kombat began. This is the reasoning behind the ninth game being named only Mortal Kombat- as this is the relaunched beginning of the series. Achieving the goal of changing the fate of the realms and its Kombatants we really don't know what to expect in MK X other than what Ed Boon has released to the public so far. Which is only that Sub-Zero and Scorpion will continue their lust for revenge against one and other and that this game could potentially be the best in the series!

The release of the trailer was not the only thing Ed Boon gave to fans today, he also gave us a look at the new logo for MK X, a possible game cover image and explained that the sound track of the trailer is original work from Wiz Khalifa, who could potentially be involved in further soundtracks for Mortal Kombat X.

The game is said to utilise modern gaming engines and capabilities such as the new graphics and hard drive capabilities of 'next generation' gaming consoles such as the PS4 and Xbox One. The game will have its first official public appearance at E3's convention next week.
